Revision introduction

Break a problem into smaller parts, recognise patterns and express a finite sequence of steps. An algorithm must be precise enough to follow. AI outputs depend on data and can contain errors or bias; check claims against reliable sources and avoid sharing personal information. The 2026–27 scheme places these as school-assessed modules.

Curriculum navigation

  1. Problem decomposition
  2. Patterns and algorithms
  3. Data and AI literacy
  4. Responsible use

Consult the current official syllabus for examinable sections, project-only content, practicals, prescribed texts and exclusions. A unit index does not override those boundaries.

Original practice

Which is the clearest algorithm instruction?

  1. Add the two input numbers and display their sum
  2. Do something useful
  3. Make it better
  4. Guess the answer

Worked answer

Add the two input numbers and display their sum

A precise operation with defined inputs and output is executable.
